BACKGROUND TO WISH
INTRODUCTION
Women in School health was initiated by the family of Emilio, Maria Rosa, Caterina and Nicola Ricci along way back in 2012. Michele was a 24 year old young man living in Rome, Italy .One night of October 2010 he lost his life in road traffic accident. Michael was altruistic, sensitive and generous. He was an athlete and loved spending time with friends.
He reads voraciously and was a law student in University. His untimely death interrupted his studies and it is for this reason that the family made their choice, Michele will continue to live in their memory and in memory of the beneficiaries of funds his parents were saving in his account for his studies. Michele’s family decided to open WISH which will contribute to the flowering of other lives helping them break out of fate which must not be rooted in poverty, dependence syndrome and suffering in South Sudan in particular Western Equatoria State.
LOCATION
The school is located North West 11⁄2km from Maridi County Head Quarter Offices along Maridi – Lakes State (Rumbek) road.

We envisage an improved infrastructure, qualified health personnel and better community of western Equatoria state

To promote comprehensive learning, scientific research, development formal technology and Humanity at all stake.
MISSION
We exist to educate, transform, enlighten, promote, develop and prepare Girls towards self- reliance in western Equatoria State and beyond.

In order for the school to realize its vision and mission, certain shared values shall be nurtured. There is great need for the school to be guided by the right values derived from the virtues and moral standards of the South Sudan and wider society. 2.0 STAFFING
2.1 SUPPORT STAFF
The school however accommodated classes of support staff ranging from the department of security, catering and to maintenance. They are named as under;
TEACHING STAFF
The school was officially opened on 4th/02/2013 with four teachers who were sent from the SMoE S& T– Yambio. They were engaged with the following teaching obligations.On 18th/03/2013 students started to report and lessons commenced on 20/03/2013. Later in May 2013 Ayuub Elia Manga was transferred and replaced by Paul Hezekiah Paul. In 2014 new recruits were admitted 50 students from all the ten (10) Counties of W.E.S; Mundri East, MundriWest, Ibba, Maridi, Mvolo, Yambio, Nzara, Nagero, Tambura, and Ezo.
In 2014 the school had a total of 100 students. In May the P.T.A. and the School Administration took the initiative to recruit a new teacher to replace Mr. Omel Stephen Whose service was terminated and replaced by Mr. Taharir Charles Ajur, and Mr.Gaaniko Awadi who was being paid by P.T.A. development fund contributed by the parents.
THE BOG AND P.T.A. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES
Apart from the teaching and non –teaching Staff, WISH has the governing body of BOG and PTA that work hand in hand with the school administration, help in managing the school to run swiftly and ensure that it is safe or free from external interferences.
STRATEGIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE STRATEGIC PLANS 2013/2015 –2015/2017
The strategic plan 2013/2015-2015/2017 was developed through a protracted process of consultations with the various organs and of section of WISH .The plan was predicted upon the school’s vision, mission as well as the baseline situation and analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, stakeholder’s analysis and the anticipated challenges. The plan was with the following intentions as having been perceived to be attainable in five (5) years To empower Girl child education and create gender equity in health sector who have good science education background to become Nurses, clinical officers and Midwives. To increase the percentage of women from 25% to 50% inclusion in the socio-economic aspects of the nation, hence better gender balance. To improve on health and maternity care in the local community to international standards. To demonstrate to the entire nation that women if given better training in sciences can equally become better Doctors or Health personnel.
Accommodation Facilities
The school has well accommodation facilities two blocks of Girls dormitories with four air conditioners in all the rooms, students are provided with items like beddings, bed sheets, blankets and sanitary facilities like powdered soap, detergents, Sanitary pads and washing soaps.
Dining Facilities
The school has good dining hall that can accommodate a number of students during meal times with waterbeen supplied and air conditioners installed in the dining hall.
CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE SCHOOL
Teaching and learning The School offers innovative, relevant and market driven academic subjects like English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agriculture, Computer science and other Arts subjects which include Geography, History, Commerce, Accounts and Entrepreneurship with all levels with in-built quality control systems. The school also provides an environment and policy framework for undertaking high quality and relevant research.
Community or Charitable Service
The school also participates in community programs and activities as part of its core functions. This was done inform of cleaning around the hospital, helping the needy among others. Below are the photos of students during the community service delivery in Maridi Civil Hospital.
CO–Curriculum Activities
The school like any academic institution indulges co-curriculum activities like games and sports, life skills su Life skills- Project Nevertheless, the Knitting project, poultry and livestock project are meant to equip the students with life and entrepreneurial skills that will help them in future endeavours after school; it also helps some students financially especially those whose parents are unable to support sufficiently, and the project also trains the girls on practical aspects of raising small scale businesses, among others.And the livestock industry on its start –up stage
